Application of the Ultra-Deep Hydrothermal Process (Gohta case history)

    By: Magma Chem Research Institute

    $50.00

The North/Barents Sea project (Gohta) is a well-studied example of the use of the UDH concept to predict exploration targets for drilling. Disrupted layers in seismic sections indicate the diapiric trace of the centers of the former mud volcanoes. These are not errors in the processing, rather they are indications of the brecciated centers of the diapirs or mud volcanic eruption pathways. The best targest are on the flanks of these disruptions.  Another indication of the mud volcanic systems is the coincidence of gravity lows (low-density serpentine) with magnetic highs (indicating the presence of magnetite).
